So you’ve just come back from a visit to your very talented acupuncturist and she has given you some unsettling news that your diet may need a serious overhaul.
During this visit, she looked at your tongue, took your pulse, maybe checked out your ears and the palms of your hands, and listened to your concerns. Perhaps you came in with extreme fatigue and low energy, chronic pain issues, or a problematic digestive system. Or maybe you’ve sought out acupuncture to treat PCOS or other hormonal imbalances, anxiety, or depression. Regardless, you’ve just been told that there maybe inflammatory responses or reactions that are impacting the current state of your body.
Although acupuncture and herbal medicine are very powerful and can effectively treat an array of conditions on its own, sometimes a little work on your end is required to drive the process of healing, increasing energy, and balancing hormones. Obviously, the advice has struck a chord and you’ve landed on this blog post to possibly consider taking away the foods that you may have never lived without or may have never even seen as wreaking havoc on your well being. Scary, I know! But I promise I would never suggest something I wouldn’t do myself or recommend to my loved ones.
Let’s face it, no wheat, no dairy, no sugar, no corn, no preservatives or artificial colors…holy panic attack! As you do a quick mental checklist of all the things that have all those bad things, you may experience a doomed moment of “oh my great goodness, what’s left that I can eat?” That’s totally fair!
Changing eating habits is tough, really tough.
We are emotionally and socially invested in every ounce of food we devour. Most of us choose food based on cravings, ads on tv, or convenience. However, there is a way, a really super way to eat that truly nourishes the body and mind with whole foods and nutrient rich ingredients, that will leave you feeling full and satisfied, Nutritional Ketosis.
Nutritional ketosis is one step up from a paleo diet whereby you follow a high fat, moderate protein, and low carb ratio of foods, taking out all processed food and sugar, eliminating grains and dairy.
By eating the balanced ratio of high fat, moderate protein and low carbs, the body magically adapts and begins to fuel primarily on fat as opposed to glucose.
More modern science is acknowledging this way of eating to improve a multitude of human conditions and disease. The changes that occur when the body switches from a glucose driven state to that of being fueled by fat are some of the most liberating and powerful experiences. A balanced keto diet can effectively heal hormones, increase energy, reduce inflammation, bring mental clarity and weight loss without crazy cravings or feelings of being restricted.
So now your probably thinking “so now what?”, “where do I begin” or “how do I possibly adopt this way of eating? ” You may have even seen studies or research regarding a ketogenic diet but have no idea how to start or how to incorporate the right amounts of macro-nutrients into your everyday life. Well, I’ll tell you what, I just happened to meet the genius behind the site Healthful Pursuit where you can find all you need to know about turning your body into a fat burning machine.
